By the late 1940s, America’s railroads were rapidly upgrading and expanding their streamliner fleets. In addition to new cars, many also added new services and accommodations, including spacious and comfortable 12 double bedroom sleepers. Some were still running when Amtrak took over passenger service in 1971.
