Description
Here is a Lionel 215 Santa Fe Powered Warbonnet Alco A Diesel Locomotive. The popular red and silver Santa Fe “warbonnet” paint scheme decorated this Alco A unit, which was produced available in 1965 and 1966, although not part of Lionel’s regular cataloged production. The lettering was applied with heat stamps, and beneath its nose decal was an open-type pilot with non-operating front coupler. A twp-position E-unit was installed to control its direction, and its power truck was fitted with traction tires. Inside the body was an operating headlight, and oftentimes a ballast weight. A matching 215T dummy unit was not produced, and the 215 was paired with either a 212T dummy A to form an A-A set, or with a 218C to form an A-B set.
