This is Lionel 6-81234 O BTO MKT E8 A-A Diesels/Legacy. MKT LEGACY scale E8 diesel AA set. Many of the most famous passenger trains in the United States were pulled by the classic EMD E8 diesel locomotive.

The E8 was produced from 1949 until the mid-1950s, when it was replaced by its successor, which was produced until the mid-1960s. Hundreds of these locomotive types were produced, and many went on to be used in freight service and scores still exist today.
